Introduction to Creating Accessible Courses in Canvas
Accessible courses provide equal access to all students regardless of disability or device type and set all students up for success by removing barriers to learning. Just like physical accessibility measures like elevators and curb cuts benefit all kinds of people, not just those who use wheelchairs, accessible teaching practices have wide-reaching benefits for all, regardless of disability status.
This live, virtual session will cover the basics of using features in Canvas to make the text, video content, and course uploads accessible to all users. Learners are multidimensional, and everyone has their own experiences, strengths, and weaknesses in the learning process, so this session will also preview the new Universal Design for Learning (UDL) course created as a collaboration between the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research and Academic Technologies. At the end, time will be reserved some time at the end for individual goal-setting, Q&A, and feedback.
